A little attention after a beach or pool day makes swimwear care easier. Whether you choose a simple bikini or a style with decorative details, start with the instructions supplied with your garment. This general routine covers rinsing, gentle washing, drying, and storage; your care label always takes priority.
Check the care label first
Read the label and any care instructions included with your order before washing. Different fabrics, linings, and embellishments can need different treatment. If the label is missing or you are unsure which method applies, contact Santo Pecado USA for care advice with the product name and a photo.
Rinse after wearing
After swimming, rinse your bikini in fresh, cold water rather than leaving salt or pool water on the garment. Handle it gently and rinse both the outer fabric and lining. Avoid leaving a wet suit bundled inside a towel or sealed in a beach bag for hours.
Hand wash gently
If the care label permits hand washing, use a clean basin with cold water and a small amount of mild soap or a wash suitable for swimwear. Wash the garment separately and move it gently through the water. Avoid vigorous rubbing, prolonged soaking, and bleach. Rinse until the cleaning product is removed. Do not assume a delicate machine cycle is suitable for a hand-wash garment.
Give beads and embellishments extra attention
When your bikini has beads or other decorative details, support those sections while handling it. Avoid brushes, scrubbing, or pulling on decorations to reposition the fabric. Keep jewelry and other items that could catch on threads away during washing and packing. If a detail feels loose, ask for care advice before attempting a repair.
Dry in the shade
Gently press out excess water without twisting or wringing. Lay the garment on a clean, smooth surface in a shaded, ventilated place, following any different drying direction on its label. Keep it away from radiators, hair dryers, and tumble dryers. Avoid drying it in direct sunlight. Allow both the fabric and lining to dry before putting it away.
Store and wear with care
Store clean, fully dry swimwear without heavy items pressing against decorated areas. For travel, separate embellished pieces from shoes, sharp accessories, and rough fastenings. At the pool or beach, use a towel on abrasive seating rather than letting fabric rub against concrete or rough wood. Follow your sunscreen's directions and avoid spraying it directly onto the garment.
Choose the fit and style that suit your plans
Comfort starts before the first swim. Review the Santo Pecado size guide and the information for the individual style rather than assuming every bikini fits alike. Adjust ties and straps gently; do not use decorative details as handles. Consider your preferred coverage and the activities you have planned when choosing a style.
